Back to School Bulletin Board and Pennant Glyph Project

Description

This back-to-school activity is a perfect “get-to-know-you” project, but this glyph is far more than a back-to-school bulletin board (although it sure can be cute—I even provided you some ready-to-print letters to make a complete display!).

So often we miss out on important teaching moments at the beginning of the year, so I have tried to make it so easy for you! How does this project help?

• It is a great way for students to get to know each other…

• It is a great way for you to explicitly teach what “quality work” is…(don’t worry–I help you with this!)

• It is a great way to start the year by talking about goal setting….

• It is a great way to celebrate how you are all alike AND different in so many ways—and that’s what makes every class special…

• It is a great way for you to gently ease back into math, writing, and direction following in a low pressure way!

The template for the pennant is included (can be used as is or blown up to 11 x 17 inch size) as are the glyph directions, ideas for supplemental lessons/discussion, two work samples to help in discussing work quality, and letters to use for a bulletin board or hallway display.
