Description
In the push to cover curriculum and prepare students for tests, creativity is often the first thing to get squeezed out of the school day. But creative thinking is not a luxury – it is a skill that students need to practice just like any other. Students who learn to think flexibly, brainstorm freely, and approach problems from unexpected angles are better prepared for everything that comes after elementary school.
This set of creative thinking pages gives you 46 pages of ready-to-use activities that nurture creative thinking, visual expression, and brainstorming skills in ways that are genuinely engaging for upper elementary students. No prep. No seasonal tie. Use it any time, any order, all year long.

THE FIVE ACTIVITY TYPES
Complete the Doodle – Students are given a partial doodle and use their imagination to turn it into a complete drawing. Every student’s response is different, making these great for sharing and celebrating creative thinking.
Complete the Scene – The background of a scene is provided and students add all the details. Same starting point, completely different results from every student.
Brainstorming – Three different formats challenge students to think outside the box using grids, object brainstorming, and triple Venn diagrams. No right answers – just interesting thinking.
Design Time – Students design five different items, bringing their own personality and creative vision to each open-ended page.
Artful Artist – Students create an original scene based on a provided title and write a brief description of what they created – a natural bridge between art and writing.
Create Your Own – Students make their own versions of several activity types from the resource, a perfect extension for students who want to go deeper.

WHAT MAKES THIS RESOURCE DIFFERENT
It is genuinely open-ended. There are no answer keys because there are no right answers. Every student’s work is valid, which makes these activities accessible to a wide range of learners and a natural starting point for celebrating individual creativity.
It works any time of year. Unlike seasonal resources, Get Creative! has no monthly tie. Use pages in any order, at any point in the year, whenever you have time to squeeze in some creative thinking.
It is truly no prep. Print the pages and go. No cutting, no laminating, no assembly required.
It works beyond the classroom. These activities are just as engaging for middle school students and adults as they are for upper elementary students, making them a great choice for staff development or team building days.
THIS IS PART OF A SERIES
Creativity Activities Set 3 is a standalone resource that works completely on its own. It is also part of a three-set series – Sets 1 and 2 are available separately or as a discounted bundle, and Set 3 will be added to that bundle as well. If you love this set, there are two more waiting for you.
DIFFERENTIATION NOTES
These activities are accessible to a wide range of learners. Students who need more support can work with a partner or focus on the activities that feel most comfortable. Students who want more challenge can be encouraged to push their thinking further – finding more unusual brainstorming responses, adding more detail to their drawings, or writing longer descriptions on the Artful Artist pages.
While designed for grades 3-5, these activities work well for middle school students and can be used effectively with any age group that benefits from creative thinking practice.
Creative thinking is worth making time for. Get Creative! makes it easy to do exactly that.
