Division with Remainders – Division Word Problems Task Cards

Description

This set of 24 long division word problems focuses on larger number division word problems (2, 3, and 4 digit by 1 and 2 digits) including problems with remainders that support the Common Core and other rigorous standards for grades 4 and 5.

Also important to the CCSS is the concept that students can interpret remainders. A variety of problems requiring students to do that are included in this resource as is a one page teacher “guide” about remainders.

Pages can be printed, cut into quadrants, and laminated to use as task cards (color version) or can be copied and cut apart to use in math journals or as worksheets (4 different problems per page). Pages are included in color AND with white background for easy copying. There is also a reproducible work mat for answers, an answer key, and blank cards for teachers or students to write their own problems.

The Common Core clearly states that students must:

CCSS.Math.Content.4.NBT.B.6 Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. (Grade 4)
