Each of these sets of 24 literacy task cards is perfect to use as a practice opportunity in literacy centers or as an instructional tool when working with students needing extra practice in this area. Cards are made with an easy-to-read font and are available in color and black and white.

We all know that students learn to become better readers by reading—but sometimes we need to do some focused instruction on different components of reading. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find good resources that are engaging, low-prep for teachers, and effective.

These task cards are ready to print and use—whether you work with students one on one or in small groups. It’s like having an entire sequence of intervention lessons ready to roll. By using these as a teaching tool, these cards can really help with some focused practice that can then be carried over into students’ independent reading.

Whether you teach from the Common Core or any other set of rigorous standards, being able to infer is a critical reading skill. Remember to model YOUR thinking as you discuss these as well.
